For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him, might be saved.
--- John 3:16-17
But as many as received Him, to them He gave the power to become sons of God, even to them that believe on His name.
--- John 1:12
For by grace you are saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God.
--- Ephesians 2:8
I encourage you to carefully consider what I have written here. Take a hard look at Jesus and what the Bible has to say about Him. And remember, it's not about being religious, being good, or a long list of do's and don'ts. It's about whether or not you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, accepting His free gift of salvation that He offers to you. It's the most important decision you will make in your entire life because it is what you were created for... fellowship with God Himself. It's about Jesus and His love for ... you!
As for me, I was a hard, stubborn case. I was the good girl that grew up going to a Bible believing, truth preaching church. But being a church-goer did not give me a relationship with God. I knew a lot about God, a lot about the Bible. But knowledge and the pursuit of it does not give you a relationship with God. However, I will tell you this... God is faithful and He doesn't want you to be confused. He wants to clearly reveal to you the truth and the Truth is in Jesus. As it says in the book of John... Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. No one comes unto the Father except through Him.
But how does one enter into a relationship with God? You have to first come to the end of yourself. You have to realize your need for Him. You have to understand that you just can't do it on your own and you need to grasp that Jesus died on the cross for you. He died so that all who accept His free gift of salvation will not only go to Heaven when they die, but have the potential for the most happy and fulfilled life possible here on earth. Now that doesn't mean that entering into a relationship with God will erase all your problems. Jesus Himself said that "In this world you will have tribulation, but be of good cheer, for I have overcome the world." (John 16:33) But once you know the Lord, He is there, walking side by side with you, through your problems, through trials and heartaches, giving you the grace to carry through and carry on.
You enter into a relationship with God simply by talking to Him in prayer. Tell Him that you get it. Tell Him that you know that you are sinner and understand that Jesus died for your sins. Tell Him that you are through running your own life, you are ready to turn it all over to Him and you accept His free gift of salvation.
Thankfully the story doesn't end there. God still loved us so much, that His only Son, Jesus, died on the cross for us... all of us... thereby paying the penalty for sin and allowing the opportunity for us to once again walk in fellowship with God.
The term soap box is an old-fashioned term used to describe someone when they are expounding on a subject, usually political in nature. I use the term here because I now want to share with you, what I believe is the most important thing in life. You've read my website, you know I'm passionate about soap making, but I am much more passionate about my relationship with Jesus Christ. The first love of my life. But before I go any further, you need to understand that I am not talking about religion. Far from it. Religion is the devil's substitute for a real relationship with God. Besides, if it were possible to work your way to Heaven simply by being good, then Jesus died needlessly. But that's not the case.
