About Us....

I am a fourth-generation soapmaker of Swedish descent.   Growing up, my Mom always had some of her homemade lye soap in the house, especially useful for those ‘stubborn stains.’   I remember the day she taught me how to use the washboard, in the typical old-fashioned way it was met to be used, together with lye soap.   I even have that same washboard today. Mom lived long enough to see my beginning efforts in soapmaking back in 1990.   I have fond memories of how she was mildly amused at my using essential oils to scent soap!

Soapmaking has been my favorite hobby since 2000.   Our soap business, The Country Soaper, was began in 2003.   We sell our soap through wholesale accounts throughout the great state of Texas and I always enjoy sharing the soapmaking craft with others.
